A fine Georgian period satinwood tea caddy

Origin: England   Period: Circa 1790

This period caddy is veneered in satinwood on all sides.

It is also inlaid with rope-twist line inlay of boxwood and ebony with a contrasting kingwood inlay with satinwood edging.

The front and top are inlaid with a fine boxwood paterae; original axe-head brass handle and escutcheon.

The interior still has most of the original foil lining with original brass hinges, working lock and key.

This is a very fine and rare tea caddy with a wonderful colour and patina.

Original velvet bottom.
