Victorian antique taxidermy by James Hutchings of Aberystwyth, Wales

These are wonderful examples of barn owls made circa 1870 by the renowned and very collected taxidermist James Hutchings.

His small family company was one of the most prolific taxidermist firms in Britain and their work is considered to be of the highest standard.

James Hutchings opened his first shop in Bridge Street and sometime later in Corporation Street, Aberystwyth.

His trade label at the time read “J Hutchings Naturalist and Gun Maker Aberystwyth”.
