An officers campaign writing slope of large proportions and of outstanding quality.
Showing a great colour with a wonderful patina.
This completely fully brass bound triple campaign desk made from Amboyna has a fully fitted interior of solid Rosewood with Ebony detailing and is dated to circa 1790-1800.
Every edge, the corners and even the side drawer is finished with brass, one of the brass side carrying handles although, the side-drawer handle, shows more use and wear than the other.
The secret drawers are of rosewood with small leather handles and the writing surfaces are of Rosewood with a green embossed velvet skiver edged with Ebony.
This campaign writing slope comes with three glass and silver plated ink bottles, probably replaced at some point. The hidden folio wallets are made from vellum.
The protective cloth covering the underside of the slope has been replaced in the past.
The original lock and key are in good working order, and the central brass plaque on top of the writing box is blank.
For Export: There is no Ivory or Tortoise Shell on this item.
