A rare, although extremely popular during the second half 19th century, pair of pressed brass Brighton Bun Travelling Candlesticks.
These gorgeous candlesticks can be disassembled unscrewing each sconce from its dish and, simply by laying both sconces into one of the dishes, the other dish can be then screwed on top of the one holding the sconces to become a lovely compact set into a bun-shaped case.
These Campaign or Military Candlesticks were an essential part of an officer's equipment up to the early 20th century.
