Rare 1940s British Military Bearskin Cap – Coldstream or Irish Guards

An exceptional, original British Military Bearskin Cap, dating from the 1940s.

This authentic piece of military headwear is in remarkable, near-perfect condition considering its age and operational history.

Our own independent research indicates this cap belonged to either the Coldstream Guards or the Irish Guards. This provenance is suggested by the single leather plume/feather pocket stitched exclusively onto the right-hand side of the piece, a distinction typical of these two elite regiments.

The interior features an authentic War Department stamp, likely dating to 1945 or 1949.

The cap retains its original, intact brass chain-link chin strap with its traditional leather backing.

It makes for an imposing and prestigious statement piece, ideal for any serious militaria collector or as a high-end decorative asset for a library or study.

Excellent condition with the expected wear from historical use.

Shape and fur remain highly stable and well-preserved.

Original brass chin chain and plume pocket are fully intact.
