A Fine Georgian Mahogany Vitrine Display Cabinet

An elegant and beautifully proportioned Georgian mahogany display cupboard or vitrine of neat proportions, featuring a classic flat, square top and dating to the late 18th – early 19th century.

This freestanding display cabinet features a single door with finely executed geometric astragal glazing bars. Unusually for the period, the cabinet is fully glazed with clear side panels and top and later glass shelf, allowing maximum light into the interior to beautifully showcase porcelain, silver, or collectibles.

The lower section features a single frieze drawer retaining its original or early period brass drop handle. Below the drawer, the cabinet is finished with a gently shaped apron and stands firmly on integrated, slender square legs.

Presented in excellent antique condition with a rich, historic patina and deep, warm colour to the mahogany timber.

Excellent structural condition with minor historic wear and surface marks and some signs of historic, inactive woodworm, all consistent with age and use. The internal glass shelf is a modern replacement.
