This beautiful late 17th century free standing carving with a truly wonderful patina of the Immaculate Conception tells the story of the holy mother Mary standing on a globe with her feet crushing Satan represented by the snake.

The carving of Mary's face is excellently done as are her flowing robes and tunic, a lovely piece of art, shown here also under a large 19th Century Italian glass dome which can be purchased separately.
