A very good quality mahogany and brass bound writing box circa 1795.
Opening to reveal a leather skiver, not original, matching inkwells and various compartments.
Under the upper part of the slope is space for storage but also where the three secret drawers can be accessed.
The bottom part opens to reveal more storage and a braided section for letters etc.
The lectern/book stay, now missing, would have been stored here.
The full length side drawer is released by removing a brass bolt from the upper section.
The "Turner" lock is in working order with the original steel key.
Condition: minor restorations with wear and tear commensurate with age.
